Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry is performed here at Thornton Town Center Family Dental and it is often performed to improve imperfections on the tooth’s surface or with the mouth. Anyone who is unhappy with their smile is able to have it corrected and fixed. The upper teeth are often times the only ones that show when you smile, and the lower ones remain hidden, so most patients focus on the upper teeth first. When talking however, the lower teeth are usually seen first, and the upper teeth are hidden.

The alignment, color, and spacing of your teeth all matter, and many people are unhappy with one or more of these areas. Repairs are able to be performed to give your smile a great look. At Thornton Town Center Family Dental, we offer you many different cosmetic options and some of these options include porcelain crowns, bonding, recontouring of the teeth, whitening systems, veneers, and more.

Below, we will talk about some of the procedures we offer here in our Thornton, CO office.

Contouring also referred to as tooth reshaping is one of the instant treatments that is available within the cosmetic dentistry sector. Dental reshaping is a process that will fix your chipped, crooked, or broken teeth in just one visit to our Thornton, CO office.

The process is often times a suitable replacement for braces when there are only subtle changes needed. A few millimeter reduction or a few millimeters of tooth-colored laminate can make the difference and can be used instead of braces. Contouring of the teeth is used to lengthen or alter the shape and position of the tooth.

Tooth Whitening

Tooth whitening or teeth bleaching is one of the most commonly used cosmetic procedures in the dental industry. This procedure takes place when a whitening agent is used on your teeth to brighten and lighten the color of them. Patients often seek out this treatment when their teeth are yellowed or stained.

Veneers are another option available to patients and the procedure includes a thin shell being placed over the visible area of the tooth. Veneers are placed only on teeth that are visible when you talk and smile and are not used on the rear teeth at all.

When it comes to veneers, you may receive either a direct or indirect treatment. The direct technique includes a process where a composite resin is placed onto the outside exterior of the tooth. This method is often referred to as bonding.

The indirect treatment option involves two appointments at our Thornton, CO office. This is because the veneer is made in a dental lab. When you come in for your first appointment, the tooth will be shaped, and impressions will be taken of the tooth. You will receive a temporary covering to protect the tooth.

The veneers will come back from the lab in about two to three weeks and this is when you will come back into our office to have the temporary one removed and the permanent one placed. The laboratory crafted veneers are made from either a pressed ceramic or a porcelain material.

One of the advantages of veneers over crowns is that there is much less removal of tooth enamel and the procedure is much more comfortable.

Bonding is a unique process where an enamel like substance is placed onto the tooth’s surface and then shaped, hardened, and polished to look like a natural tooth.

Dental Implants

A dental implant is a type of tooth replacement option that is artificial in nature but is used to offer you a replacement for any missing teeth. If you would like to learn more about dental implants, check out our dental implant page now.

Crowns and Bridges

Crowns and bridges are two wonderful options for those patients who need a tooth replacement option or those who need to have a tooth protected or covered. A bridge fills in a gap where there may be missing teeth and it is held in place using two anchoring teeth nearby that are in healthy and excellent condition. Bridges can be used to replace one to four teeth in a row.

Crowns are used to restore your teeth and even protect them in situations where the structural integrity of the tooth is compromised.
